Uzbekistan pull out of Asian Beach VB

Uzbekistan have pulled out from the Central Asian Beach Volleyball Championship to be held in Sri Lanka from January 24 to 26.  

The participating teams in this tournament have now come down to six. Kyrgyzstan, Bhutan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Maldives and Sri Lanka are the teams competing in the tournament.  

The tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVB) will be held on the Negombo beach. Uzbekistan were set to field two Women’s teams and two Men’s teams at this event.   

Some of the participating teams in this tournament arrived last night and few more teams are set to arrive this morning.  

The opening ceremony of the tournament is scheduled to be held tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. with the participation of several special guests.  

The tournament schedule and team managers’ meeting will be held tonight, SLVB Vice-President Chandana Wijesingha told the Daily Mirror yesterday.  

Kyrgyzstan (Women’s one team), Bhutan (Men’s one team and Women’s one team), Iran (Men’s one team), Kazakhstan (Men’s one team and Women’s one team), Maldives (Men’s two teams and Women’s two teams) will compete in this tournament.  
As the host country, Sri Lanka will field three Men’s teams and three Women’s teams as Team ‘A’, Team ‘B’ and Team ‘C’.  
The winners and the runners-up of this tournament will qualify to compete in the 2025 Asian Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Championship.

Team ‘A’: Deepika Bandara and Kasuni Tharaka   
Team ‘B’: Chathurika Madushani and Shehani Asanga   
Team ‘C’: Wasana Madumali and Kasuni Keshala
