Two schoolboys from Jaffna have been selected to the Sri Lanka Under-19 cricket squad for a tour of the West Indies where they will play seven one-day matches.
The two boys are Kugathas Mathula from St. John’s College and Vigneshwaran Akash from Hartley College.
Vimath Dinsara of Royal College who led the Sri Lanka U-19 squad against Bangladesh U-19 has been retained to lead the 16-member Sri Lanka team.
The team comprises four from Trinity College two from Royal and one each from St Joseph’s College, Kingswood College, St Servatius College Matara, St Peter’s College, Mahanama College, St John’s College Jaffna, Hartley College Jaffna, Lyceum IS Wattala and Zahira College Colombo. The tour party is scheduled to take wing on Sunday.
Apart from skipper Dinsara, Dimantha Mahavithana, Viran Chamuditha, Kavija Gamage, Ramiru Perera, Aadham Hilmy, Chamika Heenitigala, Rasith Nimsara, Kugadas Mathulan, Vigneswaran Akash, Tharusha Navodya and Sanuja Ninduwara played against the Bangladesh Under-19 in Sri Lanka.
