India Women Under-19 players celebrate their win

India coasted to a comfortable 60-run win over Sri Lanka in their last round robin match of the ICC Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament played at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia yesterday. India ended their Group ‘A’ campaign with an unbeaten record.
India taking first lease of the wicket helped by a knock of 49 by Gongadi Trisha made a score of 118. Sri Lanka in their run chase were let down by poor batting display as they lost the top five wickets with the score just 12 runs on the board in the fifth over.
They never recovered from thereon as the others failed to make any impression and were restricted for a low score of 58 runs.
In another match played at the same venue, the West Indies recorded a 19-run win over Nepal.
After the completion of the round robin matches 12 teams comprising of three each from the four groups qualified to the Super Six stage.
The teams to qualify were India, Sri Lanka, West Indies, from Group ‘A’, England, USA and Ireland from Group ‘B’, South Africa, Nigeria and New Zealand from Group ‘C’ and Australia, Bangladesh and Scotland from Group ‘D’.
Sri Lanka will play their two Super Six matches against Scotland on January 25 and Australia on January 29.

India Women Under-19: 118/9 in 20 overs (Gongadi Trisha 49, Pramudi Methsara 2/10, Limansa Tilekeratne 2/14, Aseni Thalagune 2/24)
Sri Lanka Women Under-19: 58/9 in 20 overs (Parunika Sisodia 2/7, Shabnam Shakil 2/9, V. J. Joshitha 2/17).
At Bayuemas Oval – West Indies Women Under-19 won by 53 runs.
West Indies Women Under-19: 112/7 in 20 overs (Asabi Callender 20, Nur Syafiqa 2/26, Siti Nazwah 2/28)
Nepal Women Under-19: 58 in 18 overs (Samara Ramnath 4/6, Erin Deane 2/7, Naijanni Cumberbatch 2/14).
