Double cab wrecked after going down precipice

A double cab transporting a stock of firewood had veered off the road at Wewathenna on the Meegahakiula- Pitamaruwa Road and gone down a 700 foot precipice. The driver had managed to jump out of the vehicle and escape with minor injuries, but the vehicle was wrecked and rendered useless. Investigations revealed that the driver had lost control of the vehicle due to its breaks being defective.
The Police Traffic Branch conducted investigations into the accident on the instructions of the OIC of the Madolsima Police, CI P.W.S.C. Jayatilleka.
