Landslide danger in Matale

Several areas in the Matale District has been declared high risk locations of landslides and caving in of earth. He said several villages in Ukuwela, Rattota and Ambanganga Korale divisions have been identified as endangered areas.   

Head of the Matale District National Building Research Organization, Senior Geologist Chaminda Moremada said the people living in the endangered areas were informed through the Divisional Secretaries to be cautious of the impending danger.  

Divisional Secretaries said earth slips, rock falling and caving in of the ground had already been reported from the three divisions. They said steps are being taken to prevent any disastrous situation.
