Several nutraceuticals that can destroy cancer cells will be released to the market soon, says Dr. Sameera R Samarakoon of the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IBMBB).

Dr. Samarakoon said that an agreement has been signed with a reputed pharmaceutical tea company to jointly market these nutraceuticals in the market. This is the result of many years of research into natural anticancer drugs. This nutraceuticals is designed to be used for the people who are suffering from cancer and are at risk of developing cancer in the future.

Dr. Samarakoon further commented that cancer is the second most common non-communicable disease in the world. “Within a day more than 25,000 cancer patients die worldwide. We have been involved in anti-cancer research for many years. Accordingly, we were able to discover these drugs as a result of our research on natural food. Research carried out with these drugs have produced successful results and based on our results, we were able to bring thousands of these nutrients to the market for the benefit of cancer patients. These nutrients have the potential to improve the quality of life of cancer patients and to some extent inhibit the rapid growth of cancer cells,” Dr. Samarakoon explained.
