FELICITATION OF RENOWNED SCHOLAR PROF. ASANGA TILAKARATNE

To honour Prof. Asanga Tilakaratne, a scholar of international renown, for his five-decade-long service to Buddhist and academic studies and to celebrate his recent academic recognitions a function called ‘Samashansa’ will be held at Jasmin Hall in Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) at 3.30 pm on Sunday, the 2nd February.

This function will be chaired by the Venerable Makulawe Wimala, the Mahanayaka Thera of the Sri Lanka Ramanna Chapter. The function will be graced by Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, Prime Minister, Prof. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister for Buddha Sasana and Cultural Affairs, His Excellency (H.E.) Santosh Jha, the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, H.E. Marlar Than Htaik, Ambassador of the Republic of Myanmar to Sri Lanka and many other dignitaries.

The Mahasangha of the Ramanna Chapter will confer an honorary title on Professor Tilakaratne on this occasion. The felicitation song will be sung by Sangeeth Nipun Asith Atapattu.
