Dr. Thilanga Sumathipala launches “An Island of Balance”

An Island of Balance, a compelling new research publication authored by Dr. Thilanga Sumathipala was officially launched during a ceremony held on March 12 at the Prof. Lakshman Dissanayake Auditorium at the University of Colombo. 

Addressing a distinguished gathering,  Dr. Sumathipala noted that the book is the culmination of extensive research, originally written as the dissertation for his doctoral degree from the Paris American International University (PAIU). 

He emphasised that the publication is designed to serve as a catalyst for a profound, timely dialogue on establishing a transformative pathway for Sri Lanka’s national development. 

Validating the book’s academic and practical significance,  Dean of the Paris American International University Dr. Amna Mesni stated that the work offers a precise and highly relevant analysis of Sri Lanka’s future trajectory. She commended the publication for its comprehensive exploration of the nation’s path forward through the vital lenses of governance, corporate leadership, and public service.

The launch event also featured insightful addresses from several prominent academics, including Vice-Chancellor of the University of Colombo Prof. Indika Karunathilake, Prof. Priyanga Dunusinghe of the University’s Department of Economics and Senior Lecturer Dhamma Dissanayake of the Department of Political Science. 

In their remarks, these distinguished speakers collectively highlighted the importance of the “Middle Path” (Madhyama Prathipadawa) advocated by Dr. Sumathipala in the book. They strongly urged all stakeholders and policymakers dedicated to the country’s progressive journey to explore and adopt this balanced, pragmatic approach to national growth.
