Leading renewable energy player WindForce PLC has strengthened its foothold in the country’s clean energy landscape with the acquisition of a 51 percent stake in Safe Power International (Pvt.) Ltd, the company developing a new 10-megawatt (MW) wind power project in Alankuda, Puttalam.
The remaining 49 percent shareholding in Safe Power International will be held by Arinma Power (Pvt.) Ltd, according to a shareholder agreement executed on October 3, 2025, the company disclosed to the Colombo Stock Exchange this week.
The project, with an estimated total investment of Rs.4.2 billion, will be financed through a 75:25 debt-to-equity structure. Once operational, it is expected to contribute to WindForce’s earnings while reinforcing the group’s commitment to expanding renewable capacity in Sri Lanka.
“This investment aligns with WindForce’s strategic expansion in the renewable energy sector and supports our long-term sustainability objectives,” the company said in its filing.
WindForce, one of the region’s largest independent power producers in renewable energy, continues to diversify its generation mix across wind, solar and hydro assets. The Alankuda project is an effort to advance Sri Lanka’s transition toward clean and reliable power generation amid the growing energy demand.
