Warm weather advisory issued for three districts

Colombo, July 8 (Daily Mirror) - The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department has issued a warm weather advisory for the Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts, warning that the heat index could reach “Caution” level in some areas during the daytime tomorrow (09).

The advisory, issued at 5.00 p.m. today (08), said residents in the affected areas should take necessary precautions to minimise heat-related risks.

People working at outdoor job sites have been advised to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in shaded areas. The public has also been urged to check on elderly and sick persons, while motorists have been reminded never to leave children unattended inside vehicles.

Those engaging in outdoor activities are advised to limit strenuous activities, seek shade and drink sufficient water. Residents have also been encouraged to wear lightweight, white or light-coloured clothing to reduce the impact of high temperatures.
