Seevali Arukgoda appointed Sri Lanka Customs Director General

Seevali Arukgoda has been appointed Director General of the Sri Lanka Customs Department, effective from August 26, Finance Ministry said.

Arukgoda becomes the 45th Director General of Customs in Sri Lanka. He has previously held several senior positions within the department, including serving as its official media spokesperson.

Sri Lanka Customs said Arukgoda is the first officer in the department’s history to rise through every rank to reach the position of Director General.

Over his 36-year career, he has gained recognition both locally and internationally, notably through his work with the World Customs Organization (WCO). An accredited WCO expert, Arukgoda served two terms with the organization, contributing to global initiatives in customs and border management.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws from Buckinghamshire New University in the United Kingdom and a Master’s degree in Customs Administration from the Postgraduate Institute of Management at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
