Rising women entrepreneurs celebrated at WCIC Prathibhabhisheka 2024

Sri Lanka’s women entrepreneurs gained recognition at WCIC Prathibhabhisheka – Women Entrepreneur Awards 2024, which celebrated the achievements of 28 business leaders, the organisers said.
The latest edition saw 43 percent of applications coming from the micro and small enterprises, while 33 percent were from start-ups, highlighting a growing interest among new and emerging businesses.
“We see more younger women venturing into entrepreneurship; this augurs well for our country’s future,” said WCIC Chairman Gayani de Alwis.
“All these women who are recognised, not only envisioned and built successful businesses but also managed them with professionalism, innovation and a commitment to sustainability. They have invested in their people, embraced progressive practices and crafted future-focused strategies to drive their businesses to even greater heights,” she added.
According to WCIC Prathibhabhisheka Co-Chairpersons Nilani Seneviratne and Tusitha Kumarakulasingam, the initiative provides a platform to support women entrepreneurs in expanding their ventures.
A total of 22 judges evaluated the applications, with multiple layers of review, ensuring a fair and thorough assessment. For the SAARC applicants, an independent panel of expatriate professionals conducted the judging process.
