Dinesh appointed UB chairman

Union Bank PLC has appointed Dinesh Weerakkody as its new Chairman, following the resignation of Nirvana Chaudhary, the bank disclosed to the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) yesterday.

Chaudhary, who stepped down due to ongoing commitments in Nepal, will remain on the Board as a Director, Union Bank said. The Board accepted his resignation on 30 September and unanimously approved Weerakkody’s appointment. Weerakkody brings extensive experience in Sri Lanka’s banking sector, having previously chaired both Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and Hatton National Bank PLC.
