Colombo, July 02 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today issued notice on the Officer-in-Charge of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) to present submissions tomorrow regarding a request filed by W.D.N.H. Perera seeking the release of his computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices taken into police custody in connection with investigations into the Krrish transactions.

The order was made by the Colombo Chief Magistrate after considering a motion filed on behalf of the applicant by President's Counsel Saliya Peiris.

When the matter was taken up, Counsel Sanjaya Marambe informed court that officers attached to the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division had searched his client's residence pursuant to a search warrant issued by the Colombo Magistrate's Court and had taken into custody a laptop computer and Apple mobile phones belonging to his client and his son.

He submitted that, as a result, his client had been unable to carry out day to day activities, including banking transactions.

He further informed court that his client had no objection to providing investigators with all information required for the ongoing investigations and that the present application had been filed solely to obtain an order directing the release of the devices.

Accordingly, the Chief Magistrate issued notice on the Officer-in-Charge of the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division to make submissions before court tomorrow regarding the application.
