Readying to welcome New Year despite woes over cooking gas

Ahead of the dawn of New Year, people buy clay pots in the Kelaniya area to boil milk to mark the day in keeping with the traditional custom. However, the lack of cooking gas cylinders has brought about consumer woes.   As captured by our videographer Waruna Wanniarachchi, public queues for the purchase of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders and    kerosene oil for cooking were seen at different locations in Colombo even today.
