Activity-based oral English programme for Grade 1 launched

The Education Ministry today launched an activity-based oral English Language programme for Grade One students, which aims to provide practical speech training to students from their first day of school and build their confidence. 

The program was inaugurated at the Primary Section of Samudradevi Balika Vidyalaya, under the patronage of Education Minister Susil Premajayantha. 

Speaking at the event the Minister emphasized the importance of English as a learning tool and the need for a good education to be suitable for future professional fields in the country.

He said that the Ministry had already trained 13,800 primary school teachers for the program. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
