NBRO updates landslide early warning

Colombo, June 13 (Daily Mirror) - The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has updated its landslide early warning notice due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions.

Accordingly, the warning will be in effect from 4.00 p.m. today (13) to 4.00 p.m. tomorrow.

The NBRO said that a Stage 1 (Yellow) warning has been issued for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions, advising the public to remain vigilant.

The affected areas include Palindanuwara and Agalawatte in the Kalutara District; Ambagamuwa in the Nuwara Eliya District; and Ayagama, Pelmadulla, Godakawela, Elapatha, Kalawana, Ratnapura, and Nivitigala in the Ratnapura District.

Residents in these areas have been urged to be cautious due to the risk of landslides and slope failures associated with continued rainfall.
