Fmr-Wellampitiya OIC’s wife granted bail

The wife of the former Officer In Charge (OIC) of the Wellampitiya Police who was remanded on charges of aiding and abetting Heroin peddling, was granted bail today.

Four other suspects including the Wellampitiya Police OIC were further remanded till January 28th.

When the case was taken up before the Colombo Fort Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris, The Colombo Crimes Division informed court that the Attonrey General did not object to the granting of bail to the wife of the former OIC.

Earlier the lawyers appearing for the former OIC said that the arrest were a part of a conspiracy by a top politician in the area. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
