Showers or thundershowers are expected during the next 24 hours in the Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces as the low pressure area in Bengal Bay has intensified in to depression and located about 250 km to the east of Trincomalee, the Meteorology Department said.

The department expected showery and windy conditions over the eastern and northern sea areas and said these sea areas would be rough and dangerous.

There would also be showers or thundershowers at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Jaffna and Batticaloa, it said.

It said thundershowers may occur at several places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces during the afternoon and night. (LSP)
