Seven-year old locked in house

A seven-year old boy who had been trussed up and left within closed doors of a house at Sapugasthenna in Kalagedihena at the dead of night was released and admitted to Watupitiwala hospital by Weyangoda police.

Police initiated inquiries based on information from neighbours who searched the house and found the boy left in a room. During further inquiries police arrested his pregnant mother, a dancing teacher, and his step father, a teacher of English of a government school.

Police said the boy had been trussed up and left in a room as a punishment for urinating inside the house. He had sustained lacerations and several other minor injuries. (S.U.K.W.Jayawardene )
