MS stops Wilpattu deforestation

President Maithripala Sirisena had ordered for the immediate halt to deforestation and land clearing at the Wilpattu National Park, the President’s media said yesterday.

The statement said: “President had instructed all State officials in the area and all the respective authorities such as Secretary to the Ministry of Environment to take immediate legal action in this regard.”
