JVP appoints nomination committee

The JVP leadership has appointed a committee to select candidates for the elections to the remaining Local Government bodies.

The committee headed by party Propaganda Secretary and Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath comprises Politburo member and former Parliamentarian K.D. Lal Kantha and former Parliamentarians Samantha Vidyaratne and Bimal Ratnayake.

The JVP in a statement said it would contest all 23 local bodies for which elections are to be held.
