Cabinet green light for Sheraton

The cabinet has given the green light to the world renowned Sheraton Hotel Chain to construct an up-market luxury hotel at the Galle Face Green.

The five acre plot of land where the Army Head Quarters is located, that had been earlier demarcated to give CATIC in China on a 99 year lease, will be now given on the same conditions for US$73.5 million to M/s ITC Ltd. India, a franchise of Sheraton International, in the US.

The total cost of the hotel project is US$300 million. (Sadun A. Jayasekara)
