Wanted Negombo Prison SP arrested

Former Superintendent (SP) of the Negombo Prison Anuruddha Sampayo who was evading arrest has been arrested from the Kurunegala area this afternoon by a special police team from the Negombo police, Police Media Division said.

Sampayo and three other officials of the Negombo Prison were the suspects in the case filed over committing irregularities in the Negombo Prison.

On July 22, the CID obtained arrest warrants against them and two Chief Jailors and a Jailor were arrested accordingly. However, the CID unable to arrest Sampayo as he was hiding.

Meanwhile, Sampayo had been handed over to the CID this evening, they said.
