Two suspects in ‘white van’ incident detained

The two persons, who were arrested by the CID over making controversial statements regarding ‘white vans’ during a press conference have been detained for a period of 72-hour for further questioning, police said.

They said that two suspects are to be produced before courts next Monday (16).

On December 2, the CID fact-reported to the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court to launch a fresh investigation into the controversial statements made by former Minister Rajitha Senaratne on ‘white van drivers’ at a press conference held prior to the presidential election.
