Traffic on Colombo - Horana Road restricted from tomorrow

The vehicular movements on the Colombo-Horana Main road will be restricted at Bokundara in Piliyandala from tomorrow due to  construction of a bridge, police said.

They said the Director of the Road Development Authority has informed that the development work on the Bokundara Bridge on the Colombo- Horana Road in Piliyandala will commence on Sunday (13).

Due to this, traffic on two lanes towards Colombo and one lane towards Horana will be restricted from 6.00 am to 3.00 pm until further notice, police said.

Traffic on one lane towards Colombo and two lanes towards Horana will be restricted from 3.00 pm to 6.00 am the next day.

Also, all heavy vehicles except buses will not be  allowed from 6.00 am to 9.00 am and from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm.

Police urge the public and motorists to use the following alternative routes to avoid traffic  during the period.

Vehicles traveling from Horana to Colombo can reach Galle Road via Piliyandala, Katubedda and proceed towards Colombo.

Vehicles coming from Horana to Werahera can reach Werahera via the Galle Road and the Ratmalana-Borupana Road.

Vehicles from Colombo to Horana can use Boralesgamuwa road to reach Maharagama then to Piliyandala and Horana.
