Suspect arrested over viral dog cruelty video in Kalmunai

Colombo, June 28 (Daily Mirror) - The Kalmunai Police have arrested a suspect following the widespread circulation of a social media video showing an individual brutally assaulting a dog. 

Police initiated an immediate investigation after the footage went viral online.

According to the police, the animal cruelty incident took place on June 27, 2026, in the vicinity of the Ashraff Memorial Hospital in Kalmunai.

The arrested suspect has been identified as a 21-year-old resident of Kalmunai. The Kalmunai Police are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
