Five arrested at BIA with Hashish and Kush

Colombo, June 28 (Daily Mirror) - Officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) attached to the Katunayake Unit arrested five suspects during a series of raids at the arrival terminal of Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on the evening of June 27, following intelligence received on an alleged drug smuggling operation.

During the operations, officers recovered a significant quantity of narcotics from the suspects. One individual was found in possession of 3 kg and 8 g of hashish and 1 kg and 826 g of kush. Two other suspects were collectively found carrying 3 kg and 968 g of kush, while another suspect was arrested with 2 kg and 310 g of hashish and 1 kg and 952 g of kush.

Police said the arrested suspects are residents of Hettimulla and Danowita and are aged 27, 30 and 34 years. They have been taken into custody pending further legal proceedings.

The Police Narcotics Bureau is conducting investigations to determine the origin of the narcotics and whether the suspects are linked to a wider drug trafficking network.
