The law will be strictly enforced against those who violate the inter-provincial travel restrictions from today, police said.
Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said a special security arrangement will be in place from today (14) to check the people who are violating provincial travel restrictions.
The government has decided that the prevailing inter-provincial travel restrictions to be thoroughly implemented.
Accordingly, public transport services between the provinces have also been suspended except for people who are engaged in essential services including tourism, health, airports, ports, apparel and agriculture will be allowed to travel between the provinces.
The spokesman said that if anyone tries to cross the provincial boundaries violating restrictions, will be arrested.
SDIG Rohana said that people with the relevant permits will also be subject to a special search at the exit/entry points at the provincial borders.
Meanwhile, the spokesman said wearing face masks will also be strictly monitored and action will be taken against the violators.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
