The Araliya Keeri Samba Fried Rice Dansala, recognised as Sri Lanka’s largest and most celebrated food dansala, was held for the third consecutive year near the entrance to the Gal Vihara in Polonnaruwa on June 29 and 30. Thousands of pilgrims visiting the sacred city were served freshly prepared meals throughout the day and night. This year’s event featured seating for 1,000 diners at a time, five continuous serving queues to ensure a smooth flow of visitors, and a complimentary ice cream dansala within the main food service area, with uninterrupted meal service maintained across both days.
