Private company CEO managing NMRA date base arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a CEO of a company that managed the data base of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) in connection with the dissapearances of data files, police said.

The CID launched probe after several parties including the opposition alleged some data in the system had been deleted.

The private computer firm managed the NMRA's software system had previously said that several data files in the database were found mdeleted by mistake by an engineer and that the data could be restored.

Earlier, State Minister Channa Jayasumana and the Chairman of the Authority also said that the original data of the deleted files are safe.(DSB)
