Pope appoints Auxiliary Bishop to Colombo Archdiocese

Pope Francis has appointed Fr. Anton Ranjith Pilleynayagam as an Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, The Vatican announced yesterday.

He has been appointed in addition to Bishops J.D. Anthony Jayakody and Maxwell Silva who are also auxiliary Bishop's of the Archdiocese.

Having studied at St. Patrick's Seminary Jaffna and at the University of Jaffna, Bishop Pilleynayagam taught at St. Peter's College and at St. Joseph's College Colombo prior to his appointment as the bishop.
