Police, armed forces launch Special Op in WP to curb crimes

A special operation had been launched by the Police  this morning in several areas in the Western Province that have been identified as hot-spots for drugs circulation and other illegal activities. 

Police said the operation was launched according to a concept of the Minister of Public Security Sarath Weerasekera.

The operations have been commenced with the assistance of the Police Special Task Force, the Armed Forces and the sniffers of the police kennel unit. 

The minister said that these operations will continue for several days in the identified areas and those areas will be inspected without prior notice.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya )
