PM will not step down: UNF

The United National Front (UNF) Parliamentary Group leaders passed a resolution stating that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe should not resign from his post, Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said yesterday.

The resolution was passed in the wake of Sri Lanka Freedom Party(SLFP) requesting him to step down ahead of the no-confidence motion.

This resolution was passed at a meeting which Prime Minister had with the UNF leaders last morning.

On behalf of the SLFP, Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva informed the Prime Minister of his party 's position. (Yohan Perera)
