No decision to reverse ban on import of chemical fertilizer, pesticides: Govt.

While condemning false media reports, the Government Information's Department said no decision has been taken by Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa to resume the importation of chemical fertilizer and pesticides despite the decision taken by the President.

The President had taken a stern decision with the aim of building a pattern of a green socio-economy.

No decision has been taken by the Government to abolish or suspend the importation of chemical fertilizer and pesticides.

The Information Department has assured that no such permits have been granted by the state, adding that they will not be issued in the future either. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
