Colombo, June 29 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Navy has rescued two fishermen after their trawler capsized about 9 nautical miles (16 km) off the coast of Galle. The incident was reported on 27 June, prompting an intensive search and rescue operation in coordination with the Air Force.

Early on 28 June, one fisherman was rescued with the assistance of a nearby trawler and taken to Karapitiya Hospital in Galle for treatment.

A Navy diving team later located another fisherman trapped alive inside the overturned vessel. They supplied him with oxygen using compressed air cylinders and stabilized the trawler to prevent it from sinking before successfully rescuing him. He too was rushed to Karapitiya Hospital for urgent medical care.
Tragically, the bodies of two other crew members were recovered and brought ashore later in the evening.

The Navy said that a Navy rescue team continues operations in the area to locate the remaining missing fisherman.
