Maximum effort will be made to solve the salary anomalies of teachers, which have lasted for the past 24 years, Education Minister Prof. G.L. Pieris said.

Addressing the media today, he said the salary anomalies of teachers and principals was created through the B.C. Perera Committee Report. But our government is in a sensitive position all the time regarding this salary issue, he said.

A cabinet paper in this regard will be submitted at the cabinet meeting this evening and I am looking forward to receiving a favourable solution. But, there is no possibility to announce the content of the cabinet proposal.

But I informed all the trade unions to have a discussion tomorrow regarding future activities.

However, the Minister requested the teachers and principals' trade unions not to shift their pressure towards the children and to continue with their online teaching activities. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
