STF Constable who died during operation posthumously promoted

Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - Police Constable D.P. Ranasinghe of the Police Special Task Force (STF), who lost his life in the Mahaweli River while taking part in an operation to apprehend suspected illegal drug traffickers, has been posthumously promoted to the rank of Sub-Inspector.

The promotion was approved by the Inspector General of Police in recognition of his service and sacrifice in the line of duty on July 12.
