Police probe death of man following distressing Facebook live

Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - Karandeniya Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man from the Thalgawatta area of Karandeniya, who died during a Facebook livestream.

The deceased, identified as Dinesh Wijewardena, had reportedly recently returned to Sri Lanka after working in South Korea, where he had been employed for several years.

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of July 12. During the livestream, he was initially seen interacting with friends before he committed suicide. 

Police said they began investigating after receiving a complaint through the 119 emergency hotline. The body has been placed at the Elpitiya Hospital morgue pending further procedures.
