Colombo, May 3 (Daily Mirror) - Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has not received any official notice from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) regarding the controversial Airbus transaction, his media spokesman said.

Attorney Manoj Gamage, issuing a statement, clarified that no formal communication has been made by the Bribery Commission in connection with the matter.

He also criticised recent remarks by the incumbent President, claiming they amounted to prejudging judicial decisions and interfered with the independence of the judiciary.

The statement further alleged that while the Bribery Commission appears to be focusing on matters involving the Rajapaksa family, it has failed to initiate investigations into several serious allegations against the current government, including claims of coal-related fraud, the release of containers, and alleged dollar fraud.

Attorney Gamage emphasised that the Bribery Commission operates using public funds and not those of any political administration, urging it to carry out independent and impartial investigations into large-scale corruption cases.

He added that the Rajapaksa faction would not be intimidated by what it described as politically motivated actions and would respond through legal means if necessary.
