IMF Asia Director to retire in April, week after meeting GR, BR

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Asia Pacific Director Changyong Rhee who was in Sri Lanka last week to start negotiations with Sri Lanka over IMF assistance will retire from the IMF in early April. 

Rhee will relinquish his role as APD Director immediately, following his nomination as a candidate for Governor of the Central Bank of Korea, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva announced today.

Changyong Rhee was among top International Monetary Fund Asia Pacific staff who met President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa last week to discuss IMF assistance to Sri Lanka.
