Death sentence imposed on father of two for peddling heroin

Colombo High Court today imposed the death sentence to a father of two children for peddling and trafficking heroin.

High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunge imposed the death sentence on a convict Muniyandi Upul Chaminda of Maligawatte for trafficking and peddling 13.23 grams of heroin in Maligawatte on August 22, 2016.

The detection was made by the detectives of Colombo Crime Division (CCD) and the Attorney General had filed an indictment against the convict on two charges of peddling and trafficking heroin. After a lengthily trial High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunge imposed a death sentence on the convict as the case was proven beyond a reasonable doubt by the prosecution. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
