Cabinet nod to up train fares

The Cabinet today approved the revision of train fares, Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama said.

Accordingly, the fares will be up with effect from April 1.

"I have instructed the General Manager of Railways Department to compile a report in respect of the revision of train fares," he highlighted.

"The decision was taken considering the recent revision in fuel prices," he added.

The Minister said people would be notified of the new train fares in due course through media. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
