Arrested protesters including 38 teachers test negative for Covid-19

Rapid Antigen tests have confirmed that the 44 people including 38 teachers arrested during the teacher-principal protest in front of the Presidential Secretariat yesterday were not infected with COVID-19.

Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said  that 22 male and 16 female teachers were among the arrested and they would be produced in court today on charges of wrongful restraint, violation of quarantine regulations and illegal assembly.

The police also took 10 vehicles into custody.

The protest march was orchestrated by teachers and principals over several demands.(DSB)
