All liquor shops in Jaffna sealed until further notice: PHI Jaffna

Due to selling alcohol secretly from wine shops in Jaffna during travel restrictions, the Jaffna Public Health Inspectors' (PHI) Office and the Jaffna Excise Office decided to seal the relevant wine stores until further notice.

The Jaffna PHI office said the decision was taken after complaints were made to respective offices about the illegal selling of alcohol at a higher price by the shop owners.

Accordingly, the health and Excise officials had decided to seal all the wine stores as a precautionary measure.

The wine store owners have been informed to give their support to control COVID outbreak  in the Jaffna District and fresh notice will be given about the date of reopening the wine stores. (Romesh Madushanka)
