A tourist white couple who were on a visit to the Kotmale area wanted to see the Ramboda waterfall. A young man volunteered to act as their guide and the couple who were enjoying the scenic beauty of the place were also taking selfies when the young guide suddenly pushed the couple into the pool at the foot of the waterfall and made away with the two handbags of the couple.
The bags had contained about Rs. 3 lakhs in cash and an expensive camera among other personal effects.
The white couple had later made a complaint about the theft to the Kotmale Police.
Swinging into action, the Kotmale Police immediately laid a dragnet to catch the thief and the manhunt ended with Police arresting the suspect with stolen bags along with his brother as an accessory.
Back at the Police Station, Police began questioning the suspect and first asked him to give his name.
The suspect gave his name after some hesitation and the officer was dumbfounded when he heard the name! For it was that of a candidate running for the highest office from a main political party!
He then checked his national identity card and found that the name in it tallied with the name given by the suspect.
Police later filed a case against the suspect and produced him before the nearest court in the area. The thief admitted to having stolen the handbags of the white couple and the Magistrate deferred passing the sentence.
