A certain leading politico known to be a direct descendant of an influential Maha Disawa of the colonial days is said to be encroaching on a canal reservation in a big way.

He is said to be pushing the boundary fence of a land belonging to him to include parts of the canal reservation while clearing it.

The politico is planning to set up a fuel re-filling station on the land he is clearing up, they say.
