Honor and shame from no condition rise. Act well your part: there all the honor lies - Alexander Pope
In the present context everybody seems to be a law unto themselves – living in a fool’s paradise sans qualifications and common sense.
A country that boasts of a rich and religious cultural heritage – is losing its sense of proportion. Are we as a nation with a high literacy rate intent on going forwards or backwards – with a scant disregard for human values, to achieve selfish and senseless goals/ambitions? In our apathy we unconsciously play into the hands of unscrupulous politicians, law breakers, criminals, thugs, drug lords and rapists, and become partners leading to a comedy of errors, with hope of no return?
Violence and lawlessness is increasing at an alarming rate. It is time that the general public took notice of this situation and arrest lapses where we should look for a solution. However, are people competent enough to avoid violence and protect and defend themselves with the limited knowledge of the law and its implications?
A Police Department has been set up under a special ordinance according to the law of the land to act and carry out the duties pertaining to law and order. Therefore, we should leave the guardians of the law to do their duty without interference and intimidation.
It is a sad situation that the arm of the law is constantly undermined and pressurised. Have you considered the numerous and diverse duties they are called to perform, braving all storms of weather and the countless sacrifices they make to fulfil their obligations. These officers of the law render a valuable but thankless service.
When unruly elements at an inopportune moment act in open defiance of the law – the law itself has to take its course of action.
To brand the guardians of the law with all types of unkind words and false allegations, by illiterate politicians, and even by honourable professionals, is a case in point. The honourable IGP, an exemplary gentleman, who holds the highest rank in the Police service has also not been spared. To brand him as a puppet and a politically motivated individual, is highly unethical. The integrity of such individuals is much to be desired.
The recent and most despicable show of arrogance that shocked the whole world was when an illiterate, conceited, open-mouthed pot bellied politician blatantly threatened the entire FCID with his derogatory and uncouth remarks.
“I will stone to death all at FCID from the DIG downwards to the P.C and also all persons who try to prevent me from carrying out my threats.” To threaten the guardians of the law in such a manner is unpardonable and should be condemned and not condoned. Such individuals should be made aware and given lessons in the ethics of good behaviour and taught that the ignorance of the law does not give one the licence to kill.
Such impunity on the part of this uneducated walking sepulchre with no sense of direction is of no use to society. The best and only punishment should be to pay back the perpetrator in his own coin - in public! The remedy for all ills, especially committed by arrogant politicians; and those who use privileges, who are a law unto themselves, is to withdraw all excess number of police officers and back up vehicles who are providing VIP duties to these individuals. It’s a waste of our resources time and money involving an opportunity cost to society, which could be put to alternative uses.
This will open the eyes of those who used public money for their own benefits. These misfits who tried their luck with law enforcement officials will need the very arm of the law to protect them when they themselves are in trouble.
We commend the honourable President for his far sighted policy which will undoubtedly go a long way in resolving the many problems that has plagued our country for too many years. His firm commitment to root out corruption, bribery and lawlessness and bring an era of unity brotherhood and lasting peace are qualities of a true, noble and humble statesman. Be firm in your convictions
Mr. President do not give up otherwise it will result in a state of anarchy.
ELECTIONS
– Dear Citizens, use your conscience and exercise your precious vote diligently. Do not in any way intimidate the rule of Law. Adhere to rules laid down by the COMMISIONER OF ELECTIONS Refrain from violence bribery and corruption and leave the Police to perform their duty in a just and
lawful manner.
We sincerely hope that the 13 member CC as stated in the 19 Amendment of the Constitution will take steps to appoint an independent Police Commission which will be effective in the restoration of an independent Police Service, which will act effectively .without fear or favour and restore the image of the Police not only as an arm of the law, but as friends of the people.
