She elephant in muddy pool rescued

A she elephant that bogged down in a muddy pool was saved and released to the forest reserve by the wildlife officials from Horowpathana National Park.  The jumbo that roamed into Ratmale in Horowpathana had fallen into a canal that irrigates paddy fields and got into difficulty and would have drowned if not saved. Officials said the well grown she elephant was about 25 years of age. The jumbo was driven away into the Ratmale forest reserve safely. A team of wildlife officers under Range Assistant Sameera Ratnayake had saved the she elephant.
