President pledges international cricket stadium in the North



President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that an international cricket stadium would be constructed in the north.

Addressing an electoral rally in the north in view of the local authorities’ election, he said the first match would be played soon after that , enabling people to cheer in the pavilion irrespective of any division among them .

Earlier, the 1996 World Cup winning Sri Lankan cricket team requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assist in the construction of a cricket ground in Jaffna.
